Family Flexibility and Efficiency

Grove Street

Flexibility within a grid

Family homes require more adjustments over time than any other type of living space. How do architects design for this? Grids allow for organizational framework that, due to its simplicity, allows for space design to expand or contract as needs change. By placing wet walls in the center, the flexible spaces surrounding them allows residents to adapt their home as requirements change over time.

The grid adjusts to the site to maximize the number of housing units. Allowing, if wanted, 80 beds in total, for when push comes to shove for families.

How To Diagram

Because each box follows a universal size and includes door-ready openings, spaces can be easily opened or closed using the same modular components.
